Morning Pages

Morning Pages are a simple way to clear your mind and create space for greater awareness before beginning your day.

When you wake up, take out your journal and begin writing whatever comes to mind.

Don't plan what you're going to write.
Don't edit or judge your thoughts.
Don't worry about spelling or grammar.
Just keep writing and allow your thoughts to flow onto the page.

Traditionally, Morning Pages are three handwritten pages, but you can choose a length that works for you.

If you don't know what to write, simply begin with:

“This morning I am thinking about...”

Then let your writing take you wherever it wants to go.

When You're Finished

Take a moment to notice:

  • How do I feel after writing?
  • Is there anything I want to carry with me into my day?

You don't need to analyze everything you wrote. Sometimes the practice is simply about getting what's in your head onto the page and beginning your day with a little more space and clarity.
